The Slingerlands Fire Department was founded
1929
First pumper purchased – 1929 Sanford Fire Truck – this was housed in a garage across the street from the current fire house
1933
Initial meeting at the first fire house – the former Delaware and Hudson Railroad Station
1942
1942 Seagrave 500 gpm pumper was delivered and served the department for 24 years; only to be sold to one of the members and eventually returned to the department after his passing
1945
Slingerlands Fire Department #2 was formed
1948
Station #2 was built by the members to house the 1948 Chevy Sanford pumper
1949
The Ladies Auxiliary was formed
1953
The Fire Police Squad was formed
1956
A two-way radio system was introduced; this was the first in Albany County
1962
1962 Ford/Maxim 750 gpm pumper was delivered
1962
A one bay addition was completed on Station #2
1963
1963 GMC tanker was purchased
1964
Request for a new fire house was made to replace Station #1
1965
The Slingerlands Rescue Squad was formed
1966
The new Station #1 was opened to it’s first meeting
1967
The first Rescue truck was delivered; 1967 Dodge/Lynncoach 12’ walk-in body
1972
First Hurst tool was purchased; this was the first set of “Jaws of Life” in Upstate New York (another set left the factory at the same time and was sent to Long Island, NY)
1972
1972 (2) “twin” Maxim custom pumpers were purchased
1990
1990 Mack/Marion Rescue truck 18’ walk-in body
1994
Spartan/Gladiator Marion custom pumper
1998
1998 Ford F-350 Econoline van purchased

American LaFrance/General custom pumper

Addition on Station #1 completed

1942 Seagrave pumper donated back to the department by the Smith Family

The first Chief’s vehicle purchased – 2002 Dodge Durango SXT 4x4

The second Chief’s vehicle purchased – 2003 Dodge Durango SXT 4x4

The third Chief’s vehicle purchased – 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4
2006
1972 Maxim pumper donated to Fort Pike, Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina’s devastation
2007
2007 American LaFrance Heavy Rescue enclosed cab delivered
